Rossi also has more talent than the average rider. My theory is that his tires might be shagged but they are slicks so the tread wearing down isnt an issue but the tires are still hot and sticky and he's done enough laps to be confortable on the track and steps up his game. More mental than physical. Still though, he wouldn't be that fast on a cheap set of D.O.T. tires or with a bad suspension setup. They are of equal importance on the track, and good tires more so on the street due to the constantly changing road conditions they need to get grip on to keep the shiny side up.

I have no problems with traction since I ditched the Michelins and went with the 002's. I will however be getting some 003's for my next track day, it will be my first time on D.O.T. race tires so I'm hoping they treat me well.
They had 190's as part of the deal too, they were just a bit more money...

Hi Dave! Yeah, I'm in withdrawal too. Nothing left to do but work on the bike and make it better. Sent my forks to Thermosman for some Ohlins internals, trying some RJL Vesrah pads, and doing a valve adj. Going to do the April track days (STT) at Bluegrass. Try to go to Wera Barber round in May, I would like to go back to Barber in August and do the Four hour endurance round, but I still need a teammate(interested?) and maybe the GNF. The rest is up to finances and schedule. But the wife gave me a green light for this year. Can't wait for April!

I was looking at the wrong site....

It's a good deal but you don't get much selection. If they still have the deal going on once trackdays start then I may look into it more.

I'm getting another bike ready for this year, I'm going to use the '06 for trackdays and instructing with STT and as a backup/rain bike. I already had an '07 750 sitting around not getting ridden much so I'm prepping it along with a few little motor mods since I'm running superbike classes.

I'm planning on doing the entire mid-central sprint series and the GNF so I'll have to see how budget goes on other races. I am somewhat interested in endurance but have to see how that goes, you never know!

I don't know yet if I'm going to make the April Bluegrass but I want to.

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity
