It's a long story, but the short version is this.
My wife bought a suit on closeout. It was too large.
I called back to ask if she could return it for a suit 1 size smaller. They wouldn't take my exchange over the phone, I was told to put another order in online and that they would email her return instructions.
I asked THREE times if there would be a restocking fee, because this method seemed like trouble. Usually if it is a business with GOOD SERVICE they will ask for a credit card number, take the order over the phone and give you an RMA number for the old suit, then swap you in the mail.
They told me 3 times that no restocking fee would apply since we were just ordering a different size.
Got the new suit, sent the old one back. They charged $30 restocking fee.
Called them and they denied that they told us that. They said they always charge 10% restocking for "express returns". That if I wanted to avoid the 10% I would have had to mail the original suit back, wait 30 days for them to process it, get a store credit, then use the store credit to purchase.
It's crap customer service. The guy was rude, wouldn't even entertain the idea that I might be right, and basically just wouldn't budge. I guess I am just a moron and I totally imagined what I was told, that's his story and he's sticking to it.
