*RODE* Putnam 5-24-8 Pics & Vid

Had a great time with MRailing, Hoosier, BryanBoonern, EricF4i, and Drummerdave today at the track!

I crashed my junk AGAIN. 2nd session turn 4 lowside at probably around 70ish. I'm okay, hurt thumb and a little strawberry on my left elbow. Bike got messed up kinda bad but thanks to Hoosier and a few other dudes we got her up and working after a couple hours.

    Broken fairing stay..3 pieces

    tweaked tail section

I learned something from this crash: My tires were the problem. I'm the first person to criticize myself but there was nothing wrong with my technique. That's when I started to susupect the tires. They came on my trackbike and I don't know their history. So I had the Dunlop guy there put some d209 DOT's on my bike. He said the Qualifiers don't belong on the track. I agree. They would just spin up and be gone with NO warning. The DOT's are freakin awesome though! Even with my confidence shot from crashing I still ran a best time of 1:24.00 Soooo close to 1:23's.
That's down from a best of 1:29.xx that I ran 3 weeks ago.
The 4th lap of the last session I actually spun up the rear DOT tire and was able to save it, but I damn near high-sided. That was coming out of turn 8. I pitted after that and called it a day.

On a side note, Railing was freakin Railin'! I'll let him post his times if he wants but I was VERY impressed. He made a bigger improvement than me!

that's nuts that you went down again. I wouldn't say Qualifiers shouldn't be on the track. They are the same as PP's and 002's and alot of people do trackdays on them with no problems.

That's what I thought but the Dunlop dude said that they were NOT equal to Pilot Powers or 2CT's. As a matter of fact, everyone I talked to there said the Qualifiers were junk. I say they are junk too. I'm not that shitty of a rider. lol I will NEVER use them again. Maybe they were heat cycled too much before I got them, but I've lost faith. My old PP's on the R6 were freakin awesome and I never had this kind of trouble on that bike.
    These new 209's are impressive.

It may very well have been the way the tires were treated before you got them. I ran Qualifiers at Road Atlanta last year when the whole PP 2ct front tire recall was going on and I couldn't get anything else. I was very impressed with them and ran some pretty decent times with them.

Also both Reg and Jason Pridmore use the Qualifiers on their school bikes for all of the instructors and I have seen Jason do some serious riding on them that he couldn't have gotten away with if they were total junk.

Sounds like you were blazin' out there! Sucks about the low side but glad you were able to get it back together for more runs.
