You wrecked the Hyper? Or your last bike?

Are you okay?!?!? Post up a dedicated thread. People will help you out if you need anything.

EDIT: Nevermind... I went back and looked at your old post.

At least going down on the road gives you a little room to slow before you start hitting immovable objects.

Could have used my own advice a couple weekends ago.

Yes I fragged another $1200 video camera.
Yes it was mounted and recording when I crashed
Yes somehow the camera still works.
No the footage didn't capture the wreck.

It was about 300 miles into a ride with my buddy Ben and we just got on "the snake" and I was leading with the camera aimed back when I approach a turn with a sign that has an arrow that does a 180 and a 15 MPH sign under it, so I'm thinking "sweet I'm gona drop a knee again" like all the turns on "the snake" it was blind and I was just expecting another 180 sweeper. I entered the turn about 40 MPH but halfway through it tightens up and drops off really steep. I was already committed and in knee dragging territory when I introduced myself to a switch back. I got allover the brake and target fixated on the rapidly approaching shoulder.
I had it almost stopped when I went off in wet leaves. I thought it was over and the ground seemed to disappear and suddenly I was falling. LOL
We "me and the bike" landed about 10 feet below the road on a steep bank and I hear Ben say "how the hell are we going to get that bike up here". Then he asked if I was alright. LOL. A young Harley rider stopped and then an older Guy on a jap cruiser and they helped Ben & I get it up the hill.

    Damage report:
    Camera
    Chip in the rear rim
Dent in the bottom of the swingarm
    Cracked lower faring
    Confidence

Up to that point in the ride I had only gotten my knee down once and had never seen a switchback before.

We took a much needed break when we got down in the valley and I picked all the vegetation off myself and the bike and looked things over to make sure it was safe to continue.

Parts of the video camera were still bolted to the bracket I made including a PC board and some ribbon cables. Looking at the two pieces of video camera its amazing the big piece still works. Apparently the electrical components that got ripped out with the base only pertain to the docking station which I have never used.

Looking back on it I think my initial breaking was more than enough to get me around the corner if I would have just dropped it in again. I was about 95% of the way through the switchback where I went off the road.

I used mostly front which stood me up and when I got on the down hill it stood me up more. For my last few feet of pavement I had both tires locked up so says the evidence on the road leading into the gravel into the leaves down the hill on the tree that ultimately ended my decent.

Target fixation is bad. Bad DanHor bad. *slaps own face

Geeez Danny, I'm so glad you're okay! Are you bruised up anywhere? I'd have to change my underpants that's for sure. Sorry to hear about the get off.

wow, that could have been very ugly. you may want to reconsider that whole dragging a knee thing, as you have found out, once you commit yourself to something like that, it leave very little room for emergency manuevers.

    Lessons learned.

Don't ride like a dumbass on a road full of blind corners you don't know at all.

Look where you want to go not where you're afraid to go. Knew that already Just needed a refresher course.

The bike, myself & electronics (other than my camera) suffered virtually no damage in my 1mph crash that accelerated to about 3mph down the mountain side till the trees & rocks put an end to the fun. Seriously I think I laughed when the ground disappeared out from under me. I laughed again when Ben said how the hell are we going to get that bike out of here.

To be completely honest the crash did nothing but add some brilliant color to the adventure and a touch of sensibility to my aggression. It's the most vivid 2 minutes of the entire trip and will most likely remain a highlight throughout the years.

I've crashed more times than I can remember, but that's the most recent and most adventurous get off to date.

It was a cheap & painless yet valuable lesson.

    Oh yeah. one more lesson.

Don't mount your camera where it's going to get fragged if you crash. Knew that already Just needed a refresher course.
