    Piper down!

Well sports fans it looks like my season is over. I had a pretty nasty get-off at NCM yesterday going into turn 16. I was tailing another A group rider who decided to either chop the throttle or lay on the brakes as we entered the fast sweeper. I only had a spit second to react. I grabbed as much brake as I could prior to impact. I was on my front wheel when I impacted him. Thankfully he was able to his bike upright and ride on. I wasn't so lucky. I went over the bars, cartwheeled several times, and ended up against the inside railing. My gear saved my life. No question! So far my only serious injury is a broken/dislocated ankle. Unfortunately the ankle is going to need screws. I'm still in a Nashville hospital awaiting surgery. Should be released by Monday. Anyway, several eye witnesses said there wasn't anything I could do which makes me feel better. I don't k ow who the other rider was but he had no business in A group. I hear he was reprimanded but I don't know to what extent. Needless to say I'm pretty bummed about the whole situation. Hopefully the bike is salvageable.

Damn sorry to hear and from the sound of it, the injuries could have been much worse. Hope the healing is quick.

    ouch!

It's hard going to a track day and being expected to trust the people you are out on the track with when you don't know them or their abilities.
