    Turtles and Deer?

Whats the best action when you hit a turtle? Throttle up and pray you go right over it? Kiss your ass good bye? They have been out like crazy lately. Also watch for deer they suck as well!

    I'm not slow just conservative.

Relax, duh. It's just a bump in the road.

Best action would be to not hit it....

I don't think hitting a turtle would end well.

Practice swerving sharply. It can be a life saving move. You better practice though.

Swerving, could prove to be more deadly to you than just simply running over it. Don't get me wrong, I stop and move turtles out of the road.... but if you have no other option, that shell will crush and you'll be on your way.

We had a turtle take a slow walk out to the racing line at VIR during superbike school. Crunch. No issues.

    * of course, it wasn't a giant man-eating Kentucky snapper, either!

thats interesting. ive always questioned if a motorcycle would be able to fully smash the turtle or if it would be like hitting a soft ball sized or larger rock

I hit a turtle on an iloop one time, whoever was behind me said it popped up, landed on its back and spun around in circles. It was just before I tipped into a turn and a rather quick pace, I saw it but just went over it. Just felt like a bump.

He wasn't initially fully smashed. Imagine a smashed turtle panini. He became more and more two-dimensional during that session and eventually moved far enough off the line not to get hit any more.

    I hit a deer
That hurt, and destroyed my bike.
I've hit squirrels, chipmunks, and a couple of possums. "Cats flattened while you wait"
Turtles are small and slow, so you should be able to avoid them on the road, but in most cases you should just bump over them and carry on. I would think you'd need to be at serious lean, and be hitting a fairly tall one, to actually go down
