    American Made Sport Bike

A few years ago I wanted to buy an American made Sport Bike so, I bought a Buell XB12SS Lightning Long. Interesting Motorcycle design up to the point where I discovered the air cooled twin H.D. Motor just could not develope the power of a water-cooled in line motorcycle engine. Got rid of the Bike but later tested a Buell 1125RR with a Rotax motor, much more power but a bulky looking front air intake system that just looked totally uncoventional compared to the Sport Bikes of that time. Well, H.D. canned the Buell when the Economy went south and I understand that Erik Buell left H.D. and started Erik Buell Racing and has a Bike listed as the EBR1190RR ? Is this correct and does anybody know if these Bikes are in Production ? Any ideas if we will ever see an American made Sport Bike ? I remember a guy working on what I thought was a CZ Moto GP Bike as well....Whats up with that Bike ? I do remember Danny E. riding a Buell in the SuperBike or was it Daytona Race Series? Any thoughts as to if the Japan dominance will continue and do You think we will ever see a competative Amercan Sport Bike ?

The buell can be bought but its strictly a race ready bike and isn't street legal. Yet some how AMA let's them race it.

He also has three new lines coming out by end of 2012. If you take a look at some the modern sportbike technology, it can be said the Erik had something to do with it. Mass weight centralization, undermount exhaust, etc.

The 1190 rs is pretty awesome but pricey.

Btw... The v twin will never make in Line 4 power, but has loads of torque and is fun to ride!
Yep... That guy with the American bike!

Holy Shit. You have to want one of those things badly for that kind of money. I will say he has improved on the looks. Its not a bad looking bike now. I still hate the front rotor on that bike. It may work better, but it's retarded looking.

I think what needs to happen first is that they need to be a major contender in either AMA, WERA, or GP for the public to really take them seriously and not for just one year. At least a two year run at the top, just so that people don't think it's a fluke, to have a solid number of followers along with putting out some bikes that are more affordable.

BTW.....I think the front wheel is tucked in too far for my liking....looks like it hit a parked car.

Yes the front wheel does look funny. It still is a lot better than the older models on looks. It actually looks more like a true Sportbike now. Instead of a bike that looks like someone ate a bunch of motorcycle parts, Vomited, and out came the Buell.

don't forget about the Motus, should start showing up at the dealerships soon, I had the chance of sitting on one last year. Most comfortable bike I've ever thrown a leg over. Can't afford one right now, but after talking with the guys and finding out how they plan on approaching the business they seem to be only making good decisions so they should be around for a while. They'll never be as popular as the big four Japanese brands but that's not really their goal, so one day I should be able to afford one. Here's a little walk around I did of it.

Buying that bike is a bit of a gamble. It's possible that Buels will really take off and the 100 of these first models will be worth a ton of money to a collector some day.

Only thing I don't like about it is the swoopy mirror stems and the price tag. I think it's a work of art otherwise.

The Motocyscz is a shining example of good ol American ingenuity. If only he'd take it that last 5%

Michael's ingenuity with the dual counter rotating crank shaft engine is genious. He's also done some very interesting things with his forks which he still uses on his electric bikes. I think he's just given up on internal combustion engines. He's probably on to something.
The joy of success is increased by the struggle along the way.
