Im actually looking for a new one also....... Been checking out the the Samsung LED 240hz 1080P....... Have yet to see a better picture than that........ but not sure how big they make them. Im looking for a 51".

Make sure you get 120hz or better, 1080P, and the highest dynamic ratio and you're good.

    Any good deals around...........?

    LED!!!

From my understanding a LED is a LCD just uses LED lights all behind the screen to illuminate it. LCD's just use four bulbs in the corners. That's why the colors are brighter and more vibrant on a LED's. My next TV will be a LED, or whatever new Kick Ass TV they have out when I decide to upgrade again.

There is more confusion in the specs on TV's now than ever.

LCD vs LED: they're both LCD's but the only difference is one uses a CFL backlight, and the other uses and LED backlight. The cheaper LED backlights have thier own set of problems, and the CFL technology is more mature. the LED will have an advantage in power consumption and they're also thinner. I wouldn't base your decision on this unless you're a tree hugger.

Refresh rate: 240 Hz is absolutely marketing hype, the human eye can't see changes happen that fast anyway. The higher speced TV's will be faster though, and unfortunately there's no spec for actual response times like there is with computer monitors. Really if a TV could keep up with 60 Hz the Human eye would be very happy. The bad part with a slow TV is going to be ghost images on fast scenes. The only advantage that speeds over 120 Hz will gain you is in 3d. Since you're sending different pictures to each eye, the screen has to run 2x as fast. If you're not worried about 3d, then don't worry about refresh rate.

Really you can't even rely on going to the store on comparing them side by side, because a brighter TV is going to look superior side by side with another TV, and that's not even close to being properly adjusted.

3d: I think this fad will pass personally.

Read some professional unbiased reviews, and I wouldn't hurry a purchase like this. There's so much misinformation out there that it's very difficult to distinguish between what's truly an advantage, and what's just marketing hype.

For that size TV, if it were me buying one. I'd save some cash and buy one of those Huge Mitsubishi DLP's at best buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Mitsubis...&skuId=3277076

here's a good site with a lot of info: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/tvs/buying-guide.htm

    You're welcome for the confusion.

I have a 3D samsung LED 120hz and I love it, also have a bigger lg les 3D 120hz and the 3D image seems better due to picture size. Our smaller 32" TVs are all LCD and have a slower refresh rate and just aren't as bright. I also like the fact of having both larger TVs with smarttv functions. Led is the way to go. Can't wait to watch the Super Bowl in 3D!!!!!!

Samsung is where it's at tho. You have the option of turning normal 2D programs into 3D with a button on the remote unlike the LG TVs
