    Liquor

Anyone else on here a fan of Bourbon/Whiskey/Whisky/Scotch?

I've been a Bourbon man all of my adult life but in the past couple of years I've really gotten in to Scotch Whisky. I go to Westport Whiskey & Wine as my primary liquor store. They do pretty frequent tastings there (For you wine and beer lovers, they do beer tastings most fridays and wine at least once a week). Last week we tasted 14 different American Whiskeys... for $10...

My latest score, batches 29 & 30, right now they're up to batch 39.

btw, the Old Potrero tasted like used motor oil. The Hudson 4 Grain tasted like kerosene. The Rogue, Whistle Pig and Bowman Bros. were the stars of the tasting.

I'm kinda partial to George Dickel. Think you're going about tasting them the right way too, if I was closer I'd join you. I'd hate to buy a bottle of something that tastes like motor oil and be stuck with it.

I've been burned a couple of times so, yeah, I usually won't buy something unless I've tasted it. The a'bunadh was an impulse buy but I think I made the right call on that one!
The Dickel Barrel Select was very nice.

Disaronno sours are pretty damn tasty, for sure.

Mmmm, Basil Hayden... good stuff! I almost threw down $70+ for a bottle of Four Roses 2011 Limited Edition Single Barrel, Barrel Strength, certainly not the most I've spent on a bottle but I walked around a bit and grabbed the Aberlour instead. Saved myself $15, so I bought a couple of cigars to go along with it.

When I was a kid, my folks had a 1.75L bottle of Kentucky Tavern in the cabinet. Neither of them drank so my buddy and I would sneak sips from it occasionally. We decided to finish it off one day and I put some apple juice in it hoping they wouldn't know the difference. a couple of months later, my mom saw it in the cabinet and noticed that it had swelled up and there was mold in it... she dumped it down the sink and never even suspected that I had touched it!

I've turned a few friends on to the Angel's Envy. I like it, plus it has a good marketing gimmick. Nice product all around.

    I'm a BIG Makers fan!
Straight, or with coke... its all good to me.
I'll drink just about any liquor though I'm not picky... or an alcoholic.
