I forgot to post this, but after seeing Will's post trying to sell one of Kings helmet it reminded me to do it.
This review covers the SP2 gloves by Alpinestar. I purchase these from King as they were basically brand new. They were comfy and fit pretty good. Pinky was a little to tight on one of the gloves but it broke in rather quickly. I bought them as my track gloves because my first pair which were Technik Lightning's had a small hole on the side of the finger. They were useable but figured a extra set would be nice to have.
As most of you know I low sided on July 4 2011, and totaled the GSXR out. I slid roughly 15-20 feet on the asphalt at about maybe 25-30 mph. My right hand was on the ground the whole time I was sliding. My gloves kept my hands from getting hurt, but if I would have slid any farther a skin graph would have been in my future. I only have this pic of the gloves because the insurance company took them with the bike.
As you can see from the pic. the meshy stuff in the hole is the inner liner. That was the only thing left to guard my hand from the road. if I would have slid any farther my palm would have become hamburger.
So my thoughts on the A* SP2's is they suck serious ass. I will try more A* stuff, but it will be the top end of their line.
Just to confirm my findings. I called and talked to Ryan Smith at STG when I ordered my Held gloves. I told him my story about the SP2's and he said he has heard a bunch of customers bitch about the same thing. The palm's just aren't made well enough. IMO.
I know some of you use the SP2's, and like them. Crash in them, and then let me know how you like them. I really did like mine till I realized the palm material just about made my hand Hamburger.
