Track Rules and LSB Rules
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Track Regulations:
---------------------------------
- Riders may only enter the course under the approval of the grid entry marshal or our staff.
- Riders exiting the track into the pit area or paddocks may only re-enter the track under the approval of the grid entry marshal or our staff.
- Riders exiting the course into a runoff area may only re-enter the track with the approval of a corner worker or track marshal.
- Any rider who crashes may not directly re-enter the track. That rider must wait for the crash vehicle to bring the bike back to the pit area. In addition, the rider must wait with the crashed bike and not attempt to cross the track or walk back to the pit area.
- No rider may at any time ride in such a manner as to endanger life or limb of other riders, officials, or guests. Such riding includes blatant violation of flag conditions as displayed by corner workers. Riders who act in such manner and are reported to track officials or our staff will be ejected from the event, without exception or appeal.
- Only the registered rider may ride on the track during ride sessions.
- Any rider observed riding recklessly in the pit or paddock area may be ejected from the event. However, warnings will be given wherever possible for minor rule violations. We are at the track to have a good time, not police our riders every moment of every event. It is your responsibility to be safe and courteous to other members.
Putnam Park Rules
--------------------------
- No overnight camping allowed on the premises.
- For all race events, the paved area between the hot pits and the tower is for staging and tech and is not to be used as a Paddock.
- Do not work on vehicles on black top roads.
- Keep all canopy poles off black top roads.
- If gas, oil, or solvents are spilled, please clean up as soon as possible. The track will provide oil-dry to dry up any spills.
- Dump waste oil into 55-gallon drums marked “oil.”
- Fuel containers are not allowed on the race track. Fueling must be done in the pits or paddock only.
- Bicycles, mini-bikes, scooters and all-terrain vehicles are not permitted on walkways, the driveway to the tower, the grass hill or the staging area.
- Please do not start engines before 8:00 a.m.
- Please do not stand in the pits or staging area east of the yellow line.
- Please do not leave old tires or parts on the property. Please take them home with you.
- Pets must be leashed or tethered at all times and are not allowed on any paved area.
- No alcohol is to be consumed on the property until the last race of the day is over.
- Firearms and fireworks are not allowed on the property.
- No climbing or jumping any fences.
- Please do not leave small children unattended.
- BF Goodrich scorcher T/A or similar color treaded tires are banned from use at Putnam Park. Any colored (other than black) marks on the asphalt will be removed at a charge of $100 per linear foot.

Louisville Sportbike Rules (LSB)
-----------------------------------------
- Any individual in violation of Putnam Park Rules or LSB Rules can be asked to leave.
- No Alcohol before 5 PM.
- No illegal drugs or usage of such substances permitted before/during the LSB track day. Do not ride under the influence of any drugs.
- No one is permitted on the track who is not a registered member of the LSB track day, or without prior permission. All vehicles will require a pit-out decal approved by LSB.
- No refunds will be given if you violate a rule, do not pass tech inspection, do not have the appropriate gear, failure of equipment, inability to arrive at the track, or in the event of crash. If you can not meet the requirements for the LSB track day, we suggest you find someone to purchase your spot.
- Louisville Sportbikes has the right to move riders to an appropriate class (Advanced, Intermediate, Novice) to ensure their, and others, safety. If a member of Putnam or LSB feel a rider should be in a different class, either moving up or down, the rider will be notified and moved to the appropriate class. If the rider doesn't wish to be in that class, that is their choice and they can forfeit their day, and choose not to ride. Classes are there for safety of all riders. Please choose the appropriate class when registering for the event, we will NOT move riders because there was not an open spot in their class, and they made a choice for a different class just to attend the event. Those riders will be asked to ride the appropriate pace of the group, or forfeit their day.

Motorcycle Requirements - Tech Inspections:
1) All bikes must pass technical inspection prior to admittance to the track. If your bike does not pass tech inspection, you will NOT receive a refund. It is your responsibility to have your bike prepared prior to riding on the race track.
2) Tires and brakes must be in good condition. Tires should be at least 50%+ of new condition. Any tires that are bluing from excessive wear will be disallowed.
3) All glass, headlight, turn signals, and plastic lenses must be taped over or removed. Side mirrors must be removed for the advanced and intermediate group and at least taped over for Novice. It is HIGHLY recommended that mirrors be removed for Novice. Please also disconnect the wiring to your headlights, turn signals, and tail lights. It is very distracting, even with taped over lights, if those lights are still functional.
4) We recommend but do not require removal of center stands. No bikes with center stands will be allowed in the Advanced Group due to the ground clearance issue. Center stands should be secured with zip ties or safety wire.
5) All machines must have an operational handlebar mounted kill switch/button and self-closing throttle in good working condition.
6) Advanced group riders are highly encouraged to use water, water wetter or a non-ethyl glycol based anti-freeze/coolant. Approved Poly Glycol brands are: Evans, 7th Gear, Liquid Performance, and Engine Ice. Intermediate Riders and Novice Riders are still encouraged to use these products for the track day, but are not required.
7) All valve stems must have caps.
8) Wheel balance weights must be well secured. Placing a high strength tape, such as Duct Tape over the wheel weights will secure them.
9) License plates must be removed.
10) Advanced riders are highly encouraged to safety wire drain plugs and oil fill caps. The minimum requirement is RTV silicone on both for ALL groups. We highly suggest securing the oil filter as well.
11) Numbers on bikes are not required. We do not use them, but many people run them, as they enjoy having them on the bikes. We use a sticker based identification for our bikes for pit out, and other than that, we do not require any identifying marks on your motorcycle.

Group Information (Advanced, Intermediate, Novice) - Passing rules
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a track day. This is NOT a race. There is only one trophy at the end of the day, and that is taking your bike home in the same condition your brought it. This is to learn and improve your ability to ride. This is a fun event, and ruining your day or the day of someone else is not needed. Leave room when passing, and don't get frustrated when riding. We intentionally only have 23 riders in each session to reduce the amount of traffic on the track. If you are frustrated and stuck behind someone that you are faster in the corner, and they are faster on the straights, pit in to hot pit, let the track marshal know you would like a gap, and then re-enter the track.
We do not place people in groups at our events, we let them place themselves, so we have a varying level of abilities in each group. Please be aware of this. If you have signed up for a group, be prepared to be in that group all day. If your ability improves and you are endangering other people because of your speed (fast/slow) you might be asking to move to a different group. If you signed up late, and took an open spot, expecting to move to a different group, you most likely will NOT be moved. Moving between groups is only at the discretion of the LSB Track Committee and final say is with Hoosier, who rented the track.
Advanced:
This group is reserved for track day experts and racers. The general rule of thumb for Putnam Park is riders consistently under a lap time of 1:25 (this doesn't mean that you have had one lap faster than 1:25, it's your consistent time), or with adequate experience in racing and/or close passing. There is still a varying level of abilities/time in advanced, and as this is a track day we ask for these requirements:
- No stuffing entering the corner. This means give ample room when passing entering a corner.
- 6 foot rule. Give room while passing mid-corner
- Inside and Outside passing is allowed.
Intermediate
This group is for riders who have completed multiple track days with consistent speeds 1:25-1:35 per lap. Recommended for people who have done 6+ days on the track. Levels vary greatly in this group from fast to slow, these are our Intermediate requirements:
- No stuffing entering the corner. This means give ample room if passing before a corner.
- 6 foot rule when passing.
- Passing on the straight and OUTSIDE of corner only, no inside corner passing.
- If you are stuck behind slower traffic and getting frustrated, please pit in to Hot pit and let the pit out marshal know you want room. The marshal will let you know when it's clear.
Novice:
This are new to track riding individuals, usually 1-5 days on the track. Tracks time are slower, more than 1:30-1:35, and passing rules are restricted. Due to having many new riders in this group, control riders will break up Novice into groups 5 and will pace them for the first session. Session two will begin novice with control rider pacing for the first two laps and then will let riders go with availability on the track for help and instruction.
- No stuffing entering the corner. This means give ample room if passing before a corner.
- NO CORNER PASSING. Passing is only allowed on the straights. If you are frustrated with someone's speed, pit in to hot pit and let the track marshal know you would like some space.
- If passing on the straight, leave plenty of room, 6 ft. cushion.
- If you are riding a slower bike, or are riding your motorcycle at an extremely slow pace, you might be asked to wear a brightly colored shirt or vest to increase your visibility.
================================================== ===
Although Novice and Intermediate are restricted about passing in corners, these are evaluated at lunch, and possibly, depending on the amount of red flags, and the overall attitude of the group riding, we will adjust some to allow some additional corner passing. The way these are POSSIBLY adjusted:
Possibly after lunch (at the discretion of the Track Day Committee)
Intermediate: Passing outside and inside, with a minimum of 6 ft, prefer 10 ft passing distance. NO STUFFING in the corner or close passing.
Novice: Passing outside on corners, minimum 6 ft passing distance, prefer 10ft. No inside corner passing, no stuffing before the corners.
Again, this is something that will be discussed before lunch and evaluated and will be announced at the lunch rider's meeting.

Munky Rash Award/Trophy
------------------------------------------
This is the only "trophy" at a track day, but it's one you don't want to receive. The first individual who crashes at the track day is awarded the "Munky Rash Award". This is named after Munky who during his first few seasons of track riding, managed to total more than one motorcycle, had many get-offs, and has even ended up in the hospital. Since that time Munky has become a WERA racer, and much more experienced and fast rider. It was named after him as a joke, and well, it stuck.
The first unlucky individual who wrecks during track riding (low side, high side, as in a "get off") will be 'awarded' the award. Their name will be placed on the Munky Rash Trophy, and they will be given a decal for 'winning' the award.
Anyone else who wrecks will not receive anything. So if you are going to do it, be the first! (This is joke, we do not want to see anyone wreck).
In our first two years of LSB track days, no rider won the award. Here is a complete list:
2007 -
2008 -
2009 - Brown1000
2010 - mungst
2011 - Munky
2012 -
