    The stars are usually a result of stopping a zoom lens down to it's limits- f20/f22 range. Imagine squinting your eyes at night and all of the bright lights starburst. My photo was shot wide open which is why the lights look a little soft.

    Aaah that makes sense. I thought I had the iris wide open for that shot. I think it was about a 3 second exposure.

    Starburst can happen during the day as well when using a tele-zoom and stopping down. My 80-200 f2.8 will do it anytime I stop down to f18/20/22 if there is any hint of sunlight.

    I just downloaded a Trial HDR tone mapping program and dropped in 3 bracketed photos and here is what I got.

    Thanks! I agree. I just couldn't get the HDR pic to look very good and gave up after abut 20 minutes of messing around with it.
