I think carrying an emergency contact is very important. The problem is more where do you carry it, around your neck, on the key chain, in your wallet. Everyone is probably going to want to do something different. It takes time to find out where this contact information is stored.

I feel the bigger issues is when a group is riding in BFE it is critical to make sure we know where we are so we can direct emergency personnel to the site. Calling 911 is great but we still have to direct crews to where the downed rider is. Does anyone know where the nearest hospital is ( or sheriff, fire rescue)?

I think that once the person has been recieved by emergency personnel then you worry about contacting family members which at that point you accesss the site or get the person's phone etc.

I think that it would be important to have pertinent medical information on the tag.....i.e. I only have one kidney, yes I think i.c.e. info should be there, but also anything else medically that may be important should be listed.

You're right, theres no perfect place that everyone is going to keep this stuff, but have the tags, card in the wallet, and a phone should help find one of them pretty quick.

Luckily, most of the time, there are always 2 or 3 riders who know the roads pretty well and can give a good direction to the responders.
