The bill of sale is all we, as indiana residents, have after signing the back of a title. If the new buyer goes out and wrecks into a car and kills someone that VIN will come back under our name. Funny thing is that Indiana doesn't even require one a BOS. You can simply sign the title over, hand over the cash and be on your way. Of course you can always go to the BMV and make the swap, but it's not mandated to be done that away.

    That's how Illinois is.

I assumed it was like that everywhere.

    Sold the Runner!!

Talked to my dealer bud and I took the plate off and made a BOS and copied the title........ Now I can just transfer the plate to my new ride. The people who bought it are legal as long as they have the title and a BOS and its within 10 days........

    Thanks for your help guys!

I have a question, if a KY title has a lien on it and the lien has been paid off, but the title still has the lien on it, does the county clerk require paperwork to prove this or will it be in their(co. clerk) files?

U have to get a bill of sale and have a notary for the title. The bill of sale is a must at the Indiana bmv

+1 to these guys...... You have to have a Lien Release form from the bank that held the lien.

Started transferring my bike on March 12th.
They finally let me do it yesterday after 5 trips.

This is what the people talk about when they say govt is to big.
There are so many stupid laws and regulations, the people working there don't even know them.
