    Black Ops Question

I just started playing Black Ops but I am having an issue with the left toggle controller (the one that moves the guy around not the four arrow buttons). I find a lot of times that when I try to sprint that it trys to switch to my equipment. I have gotten killed several times because in the middle of trying to shoot I start pulling out a claymore. I don't know the exact sequence but it is very frustrating. I looked at the button setup and it doesn say anything about it accessing equipment.

I have it setup legacy - tactical. Is this typical? Is there a way to get that off there.

Hey Numbnuts. It's in the Play Station forum.

Never happened to me. Not exactly sure what's going on. Unless you have gigantic hands and your hitting the other buttons by accident. Other than that I have no idea. Is it a normal PS3 controller or a aftermarket one?

It is a normal PS3 controller that came with system when I purchased it brand new.

I do not have gargantuan hands. I did play around with it and it is definitely coming from that left controller. I am going to try the other one and see if it is with both or just that one.

sounds like an issue with the controller itself

No issues with that here. You are supposed to push up on the directional pad to use a claymore, followed by the R1 button to plant it, so no clue.

It was the controller. I played with the other controller I have last night and it didn't do it at all. A couple of years ago my neighbor spilled his beer on the one that was messing up, it played fine for a while but it finally gave it up. I guess it just couldn't handle its alcohol.

Well, since you have nothing to lose, take it apart and clean the contacts under the directional pad. Just use some warm water and a paper towel, keeping it from getting soaked. Remove the connections to the battery before you do it, and you could probably salvage the controller...
