The joy of success is increased by the struggle along the way.
Isn't that the truth. That's why I said I was going to start out cheap. I had an idea that they were that costly for just what I wanted. Know the big ones with 6ft-9ft wing spans I figured to be well over $10K. I was thinking what I ended up wanting to be around $2,500-$4000. Yeah it's kinda hard to think about wrecking $7,000.
The flight sim software has turbines in it. So you can fly them to get a feel for them. Still, that's a lot of money tied up in a plane that is difficult to fly, and very limited on where you can fly it. You can build a EDF plane with similar look for far less money, and fly it more places.
For the way you travel for work, I would personally get a small park flyer that you could take with you and fly off the shore with a hand thrower, and then land it next to you. You can pick up a park flyer for $100 and learn to fly.
