I grew up with this system in Germany, and I approve of it. Over there, when they turn 18 they have to serve 6 months in the German army. They can file as a conscientious objector, slating them for civilian-service jobs. Unlike in the U.S., those who seek conscientious-objector status in Germany are always approved. Civilian-service jobs are basically police, firefighting, or emergency services (EMT, Hospital workers, etc..) jobs. I think everyone should see what those people go through.

We'd probably have fewer illegitimate welfare cases if every youth was placed in a working environment after high school. As it is, the welfare slobs (as in capable working bodies that are eating my tax money) get more of my money for having more children. Those children are taught the ways of the welfare slob and aspire to live off the system just like their parents and cry "slavery" when the threat of having to work is laid on the table.

FTR I'm in no way condoning the bill. Just saying the Germans seem to have a good thing going based on GPTuners account. It's too late for us to change/fix the mentality of our welfare class, but a system like that would be likely to have helped.

What's the German welfare class like? (serious question)

You would make them work for food??? Damn dude that's harsh. What about play station games and Malt liquor? That would be going a little too far I think.

I've got a kind heart. I'd give them 3 months severance. That would give them time to think about weather they wanted to keep getting the check by building roads, train tracks, nuclear power plants or working in the "company" day care, or find a private job elsewhere. They would get $15 per hour under my plan and basic health coverage. Also subject to drug testing. Just like a real job. If they choose not to, they can starve to death and eat their young for all I care. There wasn't a welfare check before 1935.
