    Contact/ICE Information

    Because this is long, here it is in short:

    1. We are moving the contact/ICE information in to your own profile, only visible by members of "The Pack" and the admins/moderators. ANY member can have this information in their profile, but only those people in the pack and admin/moderators can see it.
    2. Probably in a couple of months, the Contact Info will be removed from The Pack forum, once members have had a chance to add their contact information.
    3. You can access this information by viewing a member's profile and clicking "about me" tab (if you are a member of "The Pack")
    4. This information is also a searchable field, and will allow us to have a custom phone list available in the future.
    5. You can update this information any time you want, instead of waiting for a moderator to update the information.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    Now in detail, and for people who don't have a clue what "the pack" is, and instructions on how to add the information to your profile...
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    I am posting this outside of "The Pack" forum as this pertains to even members not in "The Pack".

    First, as the majority of you know, "The Pack" is a private member group within the website. This "group" is primarily for posting contact and ICE (in case of emergency) information. Because this information should be kept private and out of the public eye, this is an "approved" group. You have to be a known member, either attending some events/rides/functions, or know members that can vouch for you to be included. This isn't an area for "special" people, it's to keep the information safe. It has also been used to discuss things such as routes for rides...

    Now, I am sure many of you are aware, I was updating the contact information thread from the pack (for those that are members of the pack). Well, in doing so, I thought "there HAS to be a better way to handle this, like storing it in the users profile...". Well after entering about 45 people contact information, I found a better solution. Private Profile Fields.

    So, now included in your profile, you can store:

    Your Real Name
    Mobile Phone Number
    Home Phone Number
    ICE 1 Contact Name/Relationship
    ICE 1 Phone Number
    ICE 2 Contact Name/Relationship
    ICE 2 Phone Number
    Email
    Misc Contact Information (up to 500 characters), for custom information like, Don't call after 10 PM, No Texting, etc.

    =====================================

    How to Edit.

    1st way
    In the upper right corner of the site you have a link that says "Settings". This takes you to the user control panel (usercp). On the left hand side of that page, under "My Settings" you will see a link that says "Edit Profile", once you click that you will see a list of profile information, including these new fields. Fill these out here.

    2nd way
    You also can go to "My Profile" in the upper right corner of the site, then click the "About Me" tab. You will see the fields listed under "Contact Information", and if you click the little pencil next to those fields, you can edit each field.

    ======================================

    Who can see this information

    I am a BIG advocate of privacy. The ONLY people who can see this information are members of "The Pack" or the admins/moderators of LSB. As explained above, to be apart of "The Pack", you have to request access, and be a "known" member.

    This information is NOT for user other than emergency contact or friendly contact. This is NOT to be used for cold calling, ANY business use, selling any information, etc. Doing so will result in banning your account.

    There has been a couple of questions regarding this.

    The information in your profile is as secure as the information posted in The Pack. The difference, you have control over what's listed, and don't have to request to have the data changed. The only people that can see it are the verified people from "The Pack" and the admins on the website (which are members of the pack).

    This also allows other people who might want ICE information, but don't feel the need to be members of the pack, or for new users just starting out on the website.

    It's so you can have better control over what information you share.

    It's also been brought to our attention that some of you might not want information shared with even "the pack" members. If you would like your information to be even more private, please let an admin of LSB know via PM with an ICE contact for you, and we will keep it private. Just list in your ICE information to contact an Admin, and we would be happy to try and call someone in an ICE situation.
