don't know. the rep i talked to works for Z1R helmets. she was in last week and talked to us about this same topic. is this fact or just a sales tactic to get us to buy more lids? once again the answer is i don't know. i have no doubt the a helmet degrades over time, but i would like to see some data on the rate of degradation and how it relates to safety. does a high end helmet dgrade at the same rate as a cheaper one? what materials are more stable than others? all good questions that i would like to see some research on.

I'd say as far as older helmets being not as safe as new ones, the degradation of the material isn't much of a factor compared to the advancement in the materials they're made from and how they're applied.
