Cycle Laws - Indiana and Kentucky

I think a link to motorcycle laws for Ky and IN would be a good sticky for any questions people might have for such things as turn signals, helmet laws, lane splitting, wheelies, and such. I'd hate for something like this to get burried in the archives.

yes this is true if any vehicle is titled in your name on Jan 1 you owe that years taxes if you sell it jan 2 you still pay the tax.
your birth month only applies to when your tax is due to be collected.

Well check out the chart and report back... Could be a fun poll to have.

Also as a recommendation to others, before you ride in a state you haven't, check out the local laws, or call the State Police and talk to them about anything you need to check on, this goes for cars too. States like Ohio you can't talk on mobile phones while driving, some states it is illegal for a radar detector, etc. So those going to the GAP, check out the stuff for there. If some officer sees something that they can pull you over for, it might be there day to be a dick and they might cite you for more. It's better to take a few minutes before travel and make sure stuff is legit, and then remove it later if you don't want it.

I have been pulled over 2 times for the clear signals on my Jeep (front turn signals), and in every state, as long as they have Amber bulbs, they can't say anything. They then changed it to my tint being too dark, which I fought, since my rear is factory, and the front is within the legal limits for Indiana.

actually clear lenses, even with the right colored bulbs can be illegal. according to INDOT laws, the front of the vehicle has to have an amber reflector visible from the front and the side towards the front of the vehicle. same applies to the rear except it has to be a red reflector. signal bulbs can also be clear to yellow or orange in the front and yellow or orange to red for the rear.
