For the record, on Ali's first ride with us, I helped pull her bike out of the bushes.......

That was just because you felt bad after you stuffed her in the corner.

We all know that it was just an accident.

More than just a male dominated activity, it's just a fact of the English language, and just about ANY language for that matter. You use the masculine to describe a group of males or females. So it's grammatically correct to use the masculine. Spanish and German both do this, and I believe Italian as well (the three languages I have some instruction, other than English). Sure this might be sexist, but it's the history of the language and the general use of it. In Spanish you use the masculine if there is even ONE man in any size group of females....

Sure I agree that stuff should be included to include the female riders because we need more females in the sport... I always enjoy riding with them...

Well, for one, the female riders usually won't go as fast as the guys. Two, female riders are a major minority. Three, if there is a female rider in the group, chances are her man is also in that group, and if she goes down, his ass better stop and help or else he'll have to pay for it later!!! Hell, I'd stop to help for anyone. Nothing matters -- not race, gender, type of bike... if you are on two wheels (not mopeds), I consider you a fellow rider, and I WILL stop to help if something happens.
