    Kawasaki zx6r jumper mod

So.....I was talking to Patrick (kneedragginshortguy) about the infamous jumper mod. We had talked about it a few months ago and I had forgotten about it. Well I did the mod on Friday so I could test it out on the track on Sunday.

Let me say I was a bit skeptical that such an easy mod could make such a difference. I was looking at some "cockpit" video of me at Barber and noticed I was short shifting. I strictly shift by feel. If I'm running out of steam I shift. I saw on the video I was short shifting quite a bit. I couldn't figure out why I was cheating myself of another 1000 rpm or so. I now know why.

Kawasaki only uses one ECU for Euro and American bikes. By doing some electrical wizardry they can use a valve in the exhaust to pass the more stringent rules mandated by the EPA with emissions and sound. This valve closes at about 10 grand and makes the bike absolutely wheeze above that. THAT is why I was short shifting. There wasn't anything left.

After the mod it was truly amazing. It was pulling well into the shift light and even into the rev limiter. I didn't get much time to play with the new found power due to the rain at Putnam but this has to be the easiest most effective mod I've ever seen on any motorcycle. I highly recommend it to all zx6r owners. I reckon most kawasaki's are treated this way. Do some research.

Here is an in depth article on how to do it and which wires to jump. Trust me it takes longer to get the seat off than it does to make the mod.

Kind of like pulling the flies on the 14 motor.
If you really love your motorcycle, let it go. If it comes back, you've highsided.

The best mod I've done to any of my bikes is to let somebody else ride them. They're much faster that way.

I don't think this works on your bike, only the newer ones

    from the site

I recently picked up an '05 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. It is a 636cc sportbike
that is so much fun to ride that recently all I want to do is take it out. This thing is a stick of dynamite -- it feels like it is always ready to go faster than it currently is... And I mean always. However being such an advanced piece of machinery, you know that it is controlled by tons of electronics -- Yup, we are going to hack my motorcycle.

    Its going to work
