    Fixing Plastics

So I have been working on how I want to go with the naked theme for my bike. I have found that untill I have all the parts to switch it over its going to be very ugly even more so than it is with the broken plastics. I have already orded some stuff to go streetfighter with it but untill I get all the parts I am going to try to put the plastics back on. Here is my issue. I need to fix them. The back ones I have to get used or new as they are way to far gone to fix. The others have cracks a couple of the bolt holes are broken and the paint is full of runs. So I know they need paint, and that I know how to do. I dont even know where to start on fixing the plastic. Now I am not looking for a killer fix that makes them look new or anything like that just a fix so I can slap some spraypaint on them stick them on and go till I get all my fighter parts. Do I just grab a thing of bondo and use that? Is there something special to use to for bike plastics? Can I even fix the bolt holes? What kind of cost does this stuff have? Oh I already have paint. Any pointers would be awesome!

I picked up a fiberglass kit at Lowe's for really cheap. That might work. Fiberglass over the bolt holes and carefully re-drill or grind them with a dremel them after it is set up.

    EDIT: Here's a how-to article

I fixed many a cracks with a soildering gun and spare pieces of plastic. Use the soildering gun to melt the pieces of plastic together using the spare pieces like a welding rod..

Thats a pretty good idea. I may give that a try for the cracks. I dont think that would work out to well for making new tabs though.

Just take off the lower fairing and leave the upper on for the headlight and signals, patch the upper and tail and ride.

Well I was lucky enough to get both rear peices for 20 bucks on ebay today so I can use the old ones for the melting patch job. Still need to work out the tabs though. The fiberglass kit seems to be my only option right now

i use the fiberglass kit on everything on my track bike. you can do it up purty, but i don't. just dab it on there and it'll hold great.
