View Full Version : Moving to Louisville

Getting ready to move/relocate somewhere in the Louisville/N.Kentucky area for my work in the next two months. I'm still trying to map out the best place to move but I will definitely need to find a new crew to ride with when I get out here. I'm coming from Central PA where we have a lot of good mountain twisties & state game lands to rip through. Basically I'm used to riding extremely fast paced & knee draggin on the back roads..my old crew is made of a bunch of lunatics.. we kinda have our own TT course up here for our "Sunday' ride lol, I also do the highway wheelies & stunts, etc.. Obviously I'm gonna need to learn all the new back roads in KY. I also do the occasional track day and plan to eventually race with WERA or CCS if finances permit.

I don't have the final logistics worked out yet for the territory I'll be covering. I'll be flying out next week to figure all that out and get a better idea of a central location to move to but it looks like northern Louisville area. I know I'll be handling the region in KY from Henderson to Frankfort including Louisville and also in S. Indiana from Evansville to Madison, I'm a Manufacturer Rep for a large architectural building products & material supplier. I'd prefer to live where the cost is low so I can buy more toys but don't want to be too far a drive from the city for a decent nightlife. I'm moving from State College, PA (basically came here for school @ PennState Univ) but was originally from Eastern PA / NJ so now I'm used to both country & city living and prefer to live in the country, but still be able to visit the city. I'll be looking to rent a small house with a garage initially.

btw, I noticed your a Paul supporter in your sig... Ron Paul got my vote too because he knows how to correctly interpret the Constitution and unfortunately my original choice, Duncan Hunter, dropped out and Buchanan or Gingrich isnt running. I just wish RP would get a little stronger with his military support because thats the one thing that I absolutely do not like about him, plus he looks kinda weak from a leadership standpoint. If he had to get into a steel cage match with Russia's Putin or Iran's Ahmadinejad he'd probably get his ass whooped and that wouldnt look good for us. We need someone that looks tough and can slap the nutz outta our enemies leaders, man to man - mano e mano, if needed. Otherwise, Dr. Paul is an honest guy with a damn good understanding of the essentials of the US Constitition, US sovereignty & how monetary policy should be handled. I know Paul cant win so the next choice of the lesser of two evils for me is Huckleberry.

I just wanted to say that as I read the different threads posted throughout this forum I feel right at home as if i was back on my old PaSportbikes website.. Its amazing how some people and their hobbies & even lifestyles are basically the same throughout the known universe. I guess certain things just transcend borders, boundaries & state lines.

I don't understand what you mean by stronger with his military support. Ron Paul and John McCain are the only two running who have served.
Ron Paul received more donations from active duty military the last quarter then EVERY OTHER candidate on BOTH sides combined. I would say that is pretty damn good support.

Ron Paul is an economic genius, a true statesman and obeys the constitution when no one else will. Sadly the American people don't go for that.

When this whole race started Huckabee, McCain and Hillary were the three that I would never in a million years vote for. For them to be the top choices now makes me sad for our country.

With OBAMA being a constitutional Law professor I would say he is my lesser of all the evils. Ron Paul will get my vote in the primaries. Hopefully I will be able to vote for OBAMA in the general election.

If it is McCain vs Hillary I might just have to shoot myself. I better do it quick before they ban me owning a gun though.

I will give Southern Indiana a closer look, I want to be in a laid back area/neighborhood where I can rip around on my minimotos/pocketbikes without problems or at least have access to large parking lots to ride them in. Is there any place for 4 wheelin or dirt bike riding in the Jeffersonville area?

Here are few of the pocketbikes in my stable..

Blata B1 Origami, Blata Elite 14 WRS, 2 Modded C1's (Blata reps), 2 modded cags (Blata 2.5 reps).

I understand Ron Paul has alot of military support since there are alot of people serving that want to get the hell home from the sandbox and i dont blame them..My issue is the stance he takes of how we shouldnt get involved in world affairs and I do agree only to a point. When there are resources at stake such as new fuel sources, land that can be strategic to our national defense for bases, clear potential future threats such as Iran/Iraq building facilities that can manufacture nuclear material, even the drug cartels with the smuggling, etc, then I believe in being proactive with 1st strikes and using black ops, etc, where Paul would want to wait for a bomb to go off. He reminds me of the council in movie 300 where the Spartans werent allowed to go to war with Persia because they didnt think they would attack Greece only to eventually have a great leader, King Leonidas and his men killed because of that kind of stupid decision making. I want a leader that if he gets smacked across the face he isnt going to stand there and ask why it was done and try to debate or analyze it, I want someone that will pick up a bat and crack the assailant over the head and tell him thats what you get for messing with the big dawgs and set an example for anyone else who is thinking about testing our charity. Never bring a knife to a gun fight.

Obama, Hillary & MCcain are all liberal, gun grabbing democrats with mccain being the closet democrat who is probably a Manchurian candidate programmed by the Vietcong back when he was captured. Obama is an outright serious threat to our national security. Here is everything the mainstream media isnt telling you about Obama:

I think Ive been sold on the Indiana side, now I just need to narrow down a county & town.. seems to be a toss up between Clarksville & Jeffersonville.

I would eventually like to build a shifter cart to race at the track.

clarksville isn't highly desirable to most people. it's got some areas that aren't too nice. there are a couple nice spots though. there's still a lot of jeffersonville that isn't bad. new albany and sellersburg seem to be top choices, but are a tad more expensive

there's a pretty big auto-x fanbase in the louisville area and a few guys i know are running shifter carts in those events

[QUOTE=vertical954rr;76443]I think Ive been sold on the Indiana side, now I just need to narrow down a county & town.. seems to be a toss up between Clarksville & Jeffersonville.

i grew up in louisville and spent the last ten years of my time in the area in southern Indiana and i have lived in all three cities there New Albany, Jeff & clarksville and out of the three i enjoyed New Albany the most but if i mostly prefered the outer county. FLoyd county has some really nice areas but i did not care for the inner city of New Albany. Jeff was not bad either. i liked clarksville the least because that is where the malls are and all the shopping and for me i like a more less conjested area to inhabit. but is just my 2 cents

It's a good mix of country and city. About 20-30 minutes from Louisville but if your job is gonna have you traveling all over the region I guess the location doesn't really matter as long as it's central.

If you've already got a membership at Gold's keep it active--they're owned by the same parent company or something. They'll just swap out your little keycard thing.

Still have the keycard but the membership is long expired, i've been lifting at the University & also the local YMCA which surprisingly has a good setup since they bought a local gym that went under and kept it as a separate facility called The Annex for freeweights & cardio, in addition to the gym at the main YMCA building / facility which isnt too shabby either.

the main YMCA:

We've got a "Y" downtown somewhere, but Gold's is closer for me. I've got a free gym are at my work, but I don't like any of the machines and the free weights are always jacked up or missing.

But I think the Y is downtown somewhere, so if you end up in IN, you'd be fairly close.

If you have a Golds thats my 1st choice and prolly where i'll wind up going, unless the YMCA isnt a craphole and they honor my membership until it expires.
